It is a great honor and privilege to serve as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Postgraduate Medicine, Education, and Research (JPMER), now in its 58th year of publication. This journal was previously published as an in-house ”Bulletin Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER)” to share clinical experience and research information among the faculty and students of the PGIMER, Chandigarh, India. Over the last few years, this bulletin has transformed into a multispecialty journal, with its content, reach, and reputation growing phenomenally, resulting in a considerable increase in national and global readership. The success of JPMER is attributed to the hard work, dedication, and vision of previous Editors-in-Chief, Prof PL Wahi, Prof PL Sharma, Prof NK Ganguly, Prof Indu Gupta, Prof YK Chawla and I am honored and humbled to assume this role from Professor MS Dhillon. As Editor-in-Chief, my focus and effort will be to build upon this great legacy and record of success of JPMER. I am grateful to Prof Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, for giving me this opportunity to steer this great journal. As I assume this important academic role, I would also like to thank my mentor, Professor DK Bhasin, for inspiring me and instilling critical thinking and problem-solving skills in me.

In the current era of super-specialization, JPMER is among the few multispecialty journals that publish research articles from all medical and surgical specialties, which is this journal’s core strength. We intend to expand this by publishing articles on medical education, ethics, health economics, biomedical research, and hospital management. The integrity and reputation of any scientific journal are determined by the quality and dedication of its reviewers and editorial board. I am incredibly proud to work in tandem with a committed, hardworking, bright, and enthusiastic team of associate editors and members of the editorial board. This team is an exceptional blend of bright young minds and experienced professionals representing leaders in their respective fields, and they are fully committed to the success of this outstanding journal. A brief resume of these talented and accomplished clinical scientists has been published in this issue.

These are extraordinary times in medicine, with newer developments happening at a lightning pace. Therefore, this is an exciting time for our journal to be part of this incredible journey of inventions and discoveries. As our new editorial team takes over the reins of JPMER, some things about our journal will not change, including the managing editor, editorial staff, and publisher. Also, we will continue to strive to seek and publish high-quality original articles, editorials, and reviews. The new editorial board is committed to making the submission, peer review, and publication process easier and quicker, along with maintaining a rigorous, high-quality peer review. We intend to reduce the time taken for decision as well as publication after acceptance to less than four weeks. We are also planning to introduce new sections in our journal, including brief reports, clinical practice guidelines, concise reviews, techniques, my treatment approach, editorials, commentaries, current opinions, a video section, and a medical education section with teaching articles like resident clinics and bedside approach to diseases. We will soon be updating the instructions for authors and introducing these changes. We also intend to bring a new look to the journal, and our editorial board is working on it. We also plan to increase the digital footprint of the journal through social media and other digital platforms for the widespread dissemination of publications. We hope this endeavor of ours will help expand the journal’s readership. Also, I look forward to valuable input from our readers and contributors to enhance the journal’s overall quality.

At JPMER, we have a passion for excellence, and the editorial team makes this commitment to serve to the best of our ability and help this journal reach greater heights. Our expectations are great, and we are confident we will jointly achieve our goals.
